Landscaping

  • Raised beds can give boundaries to a garden but without making it feel too enclosed or clostiphoebic.
  • They can make maintenance to the beds far easier, as instead of bending down to the beds, they are at more accessible height.
  • They can be made from many materials such as wooden close board or reclaimed railway sleepers, to brick or stone which can then be painted if you so wish.
  • They can be built into other design features such as a window seat or archway, which can then be planted up with climbers to give a dramatic view.
  • They can also be planted in the side, this allows colour to grow out of what can be a very bland space.
  • Decking and pergolas can create a very strong image in the garden, but yet also a practical one.
  • The decking provides a place in which you can relax and enjoy your garden.
  • The decking can be built in terraces. This allows what was a step useless area to be transformed into a place of entertainment and relaxation.
  • Pergolas can give a garden a fantastic view point; somewhere that draws the eye.
  • They can be covered in climbers which gives a wonderful place to sit and relax
  • There are many styles of paving, hundreds of different mediums. Everything from a simple concrete slab path to a gravel or shale path. Other gardens suite a hidden path; one of grass maybe, but even a grass path can last with a fixing system.
  • Paving is an underestimated medium that can transform a garden this is because it links areas, and how is up to you; do you want a pathway that blends in and becomes un-noticeable or one that creates a strong line; one that leads the eye and makes you want to explore the garden
  • Terraces transform useless areas into useable space.
  • By using the steep banks, we can provide a space full of colour or for a place for entertainment and relaxation, or simply somewhere to put the garden shed.
  • Lawn edging provides a solid line to which to trim back to. These can be created in one of two ways; by simply cutting the turf back to a required line and edging with edging shears every time the grass is cut, or by fitting a solid edging medium such as brick or a plastic or metal edging strip.
  • By using a proper edging strip, the edges stay in place much more firmly than without; without, simply stepping on the edge will flatten it loosing the crisp edge effect.
  • Gravel drives are the quintessentially English driveway; a feature of nearly every country house in the country, but also a far more cost effective and attractive alternative to the bland concrete or tarmac, whilst being much safer in icy conditions.
  • Gravel drives; however, do, over time have the fault of leaf litter etc getting imbedded beneath the gravel, allowing grass and other weeds to grow through.
  • We can remove this layer of debris, and where needed put down a base layer and membrane and recover in a new layer of gravel.
  • Another problem is that over time they can loose there gravel covering; we can also rectify this by simply topping up the gravel.
